Isla Rain | Fall 2017 Outdoor Milk Bath Session | Rural NJ

Due to the high amounts of school work + moving, I moved all of my sessions to October + November. So, just because I was missing my camera, I decided to do a last minute milk bath session with my daughter the other day. The weather has been all over the place, typical in Jersey, and after a week of low 60s and high 50s, we had an 83 degree day! I got my daughter and I ready to go, we ran out to Michael’s to get some flowers, and then the day from Hell began.

My boyfriend and I had to meet at 6:30 to sign the lease for our new house, so I didn’t have much time to do all this. I had to shower, eat, go out for milk + flowers, come back make a flower crown, + set up the milk bath session outside all in time to get ready to leave for the place 30 minutes away. After getting everything in my cart + heading to checkout, my card got declined which never ever happened to me before in my life. So, inevitably, I panicked because I just deposited $130 the day before. I called my bank immediately just to find out that my school had taken out $150 for a class I was taking. Thankfully, my grandma came with me to get crocheting supplies, so she gave me the extra money I needed + then some more to put in my account to get me out of the negatives, I was so embarrassed.

THEN, we went to the grocery store to get milk and I stopped at the ATM machine to deposit the money. When I got to checkout, my card was not in my wallet. Yup, you read that right. This time I skipped the panicking and went straight to crying. Thought I was embarrassed before, I was humiliated now. Turns out I left it in the machine so the bankers had it. THANK GOD. So, when I finally got home, my stress levels were through the roof. I was trying to make a flower crown for the first time ever, and it was not as easy as I anticipated.

When I finally got done with everything. After running up and down my 1 acre yard to fill the tub with water and milk, which had a freaking hole in it by the way, I grabbed the baby and got started. I put her in + she hated how cold it was AND the flower crown. Not to mention, the flowers I laid in the milk for aesthetic sunk right away. I was so flustered, it was ridiculous.

So, any who, if you look at the gallery, you wouldn’t have a clue that all of those crazy shenanigans went down before + during the session. That is why I felt compelled to tell you guys. Photographers usually go above + beyond to get the best pictures, not just for their clients, but in everyday life. Reason #2347273 why not just ANYone can be one. I have a love/hate relationship with my job, let me tell you. However, the end result is always worth it.
